The Road Home

Friday I take off on a wonderful trip. I fly to my mom’s house only to wake up the next morning and drive to California.
But in truth, as many of us know, the trip always begins long before you actually leave.
First you have the actual planning of the trip..where to go, when to leave, when to get back..yadda, yadda, yadda. Well then the ever dreaded part begins. Getting everything ready for your departure.
Since I wasn’t actually planning to go on this trip, for lack of funds (thanks mommy), it’s been a mad dash to get everything ready. What exactly do I mean everything? Well, you have the wife-stuff, you have the online stuff, then you have the personal stuff.
Wife stuff:
I did laundry on sunday to help keep it to a low amount come today. This way I don’t have 200 loads of laundry to be done in one day. Yeah I know that is NOT a real amount lol but it seems that way sometimes. So the other day I washed all the laundry up, here comes today and I only have 3 main loads…so I decided to wash the blankets/sheets/pillows, which added 3 loads lol. But dang-it I want this stuff to be done for when I get back. Well, good news, laundry is almost done, yayy. Oh and btw, the only reason I wanted the laundry to be done before I left is because (if your a wife) you know men can’t do laundry…at least not to your perfection hehe.
Online stuff:
I have my private website to maintain and I know for some this isn’t much worry but I just posted an author interivew with Mary Reed McCall (check it out http://www.havenrich.com/interview). Plus I also have my group blog I keep in order, which also features authors from time to time. And guess what? The week I’m gone is one of those times. So, I’m making sure the author has an easy go of it and making sure the other ladies of the group know I’m gone and to make sure the author is more than welcomed. On top of that, I have a few other authors I’m getting organized to guest blog as well..setting up dates and such.
Private stuff:
This means the actual packing. My stuff. What I want to go with me and how I’m going to fit it in one suitcase. Hehe, and I’ll do it too, just watch me. The one big thing that makes this a little hard is trying to predict the weather. The guys on tv arent much help, they have about as much of a clue as I do. So, going from east Texas to west Texas then onto California. So far I’m guessing a day or two of rain…one day of snow(maybe) and perhaps a few warm days. Do you know what this means in the way of packing?? This means heavy jackets, wind jackets, shorts, pants, the snowsuit you haven’t worn in 3 years(just teasing).
Oh and need I forget that this week I had two doc appts…well one doc and one eye exam. So this adds to the stress just a tad. Somewhere in the mist of this I had to take a day out for appts. Which happened to be yesterday. My eye exam went well, I’m still blind lol. The G.I. appt was a different story. It all went well but the doctor has major issues with me traveling and isn’t sure I’m upto it. My thinking is, I’m not driving so I can sleep and relax as much as I want to lol. As if that wasn’t enough though, he decided to bring to my attention that he wanted to do a few tests when I return. OH JOY!! For anyone that has problems in their GI track they know what tests I’m talking about and they aren’t fun. So I have something to try and forget during this trip lol. The good thing is, I’ll have my meds refilled for my trip and won’t have to worry about running out.
To do tomorrow:
Print out flight plan and tickets
Finish up the little bit of packing
Go to bed early(yeah right haha)
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
Reading: Christina Dodd’s The Barefoot Princess
Thought of the day: I’m thinking that on that flight I’m going to finally relax and have a glass of wine.

Haven, first have a wonderful and safe trip. After our Hawaii trip I learned how to pack. We took way too many clothes which we didn’t wear. Our uniforms in 85 degree were shorts and
t-shirts.
It’s a little cold up here in the SF bay but you’ll probably end up having better weather where you’re going.
I’m off to read the MRM article, but before I do that I’m happy to read your eye appt. went well.
Take care,
Isabel

As one author friend put it I’m pre-published hehe. In the past I’ve had poetry published but nothing big.
Isabel, I’m a great packer hehe. I can fit almost anything and everything in less than two bags. I have enough clothing, two blankets and a pillow in one regular suitcase and one small bag. Now my carry-on bag is a totally different story. It’s sad when you have to carry a huge bag on the plane just to fit all your meds. At 15 bottles you’d think I’d have enough lol.
Hope you enjoy Mary Reed McCall at the other blog next week. I can’t wait to see what she has to share.

If you stop to consider all the stuff you gotta do before going on a trip, you’d stay home instead.
