Panic Attacks or Heart Attack??

The last twenty-four hours has been some of the hardest in my life.

A very dear friend of my has been suffering from panic attacks for about three months, or so we thought.

Last night her loving husband rushed her to the hospital because she was suffering from a very long panic attack. Turns out she had a heart attack. She has been taken to a much larger hospital thats 50 miles away from her home.

While in the hospital they did many test, as one can expect and saw that she had previous damage to her heart. The doctors had planed to do a type of scope in the morning but after a ultra-sound of the heart(sorry I dont know the tech term) they saw that she had way too much blockage. Now she is going to have surgery, a triple by-pass.

As expected her husband is a nervous wreck, as am I. I’m doing my best to comfort him and keep him together and reminding him of his own health(he has diabetis*sp*).

As you can see I’m very concerned for my friend, as she is my guiding light and my number one fan with my books. But it pains me to know that she had to suffer and endure these “panic attacks” when actually she could have found out much sooner that she was headed toward major problems.

I’ve had panic attacks(or at least I hope thats what they are) as well and before this night we compared our “signs”. They are all the same. Sharp pain in the chest area, trouble breathing, left arm really cramping and sometimes numb or tingling, dizzy spells during the pain, sometimes the feeling of tossing cookies(puking). For anyone that has panic attacks or perhaps a heart attack some or all of this might ring a bell. All I can say if this happens be safe, rather than sorry, go to the doctor and get checked out. You never know, it might safe your life.

Small note that I heard awhile back, its common that people die with their first heart attack more than people suffering from a second or third. Why? Because we dont see the signs as well.
